Markets recover on RBI-speak
The markets rebounded in the later afternoon, thanks to the Reserve Bank of India Governor D Subbarao"s comments that capital flows into India were in line with requirements and there were no fears of asset price bubbles in the near future. Capital goods, power and metals stocks powered the Sensex to recover nearly 170 points from its intra-day lows to end at 17,189, higher by 64 points, and the Nifty to close at 5,134,up 22 points.

ArcelorMittal appoints Peter Kukielski in Group Mgmt Board

"I am pleased to welcome him to the Group Management Board and I look forward to his continued contribution to the Company"s success. I also welcome Phil to our Management Committee; his inputs towards the ongoing development of our mining activities will be important," ArcelorMittal Chairman and CEO Lakshmi N Mittal said. Kukielski had joined ArcelorMittal in December 2008 as Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Mining. Prior to joining the company, Kukielski held senior positions in a number of mining companies, like Teck Resources, Noranda/Falconbridge (now Xstrata) and Rio Algom (now BHP Billiton).
